HEADLINE: Charles Perez Jr. Wrestling Scholarship Fund announces award winners in Middlesex, Monmouth and Ocean Counties.

The Charles Perez Jr. Wrestling Scholarship Fund has awarded scholarship monies to a qualified individual in each of Middlesex, Monmouth and Ocean counties.

The awards were presented at the Fourth Annual Charles Perez Jr. Wrestling Scholarship Benefit Banquet Held at the Robert B. Meyner Reception Center at the PNC Arts Center on October 22, 2006, where more than 45 individual senior wrestlers from high schools throughout Central New Jersey were honored.

Officials, coaches, parents and friends of the central Jersey wrestling community joined in the festivities.

The Scholarship winners are,

• Middlesex County- William Ashnault, South Plainfield High school.
• Monmouth County-Mathew Mullan, Middletown High School South.
• Ocean County-Robert Phillips, Brick Memorial High School.

These winners were chosen from a pool of award winners, who had been chosen by their high school wrestling coaches to receive the Charles Perez Jr. wrestling award for their High School.

Each High School award winner was then offered the opportunity to participate in an essay contest, and the essay finalists were then reviewed to arrive at a final scholarship recipient for each of the three counties.

Each award winner will receive a $500 scholarship toward his or her future education.

The Charles Perez Jr. Wrestling Scholarship Fund is a New Jersey non-profit corporation, organized for charitable purposes. The fund is named in memory of Charles Perez Jr., a soccer, wrestling and softball official, who was an advocate of youth sports in the Central New Jersey area.

Since 2003, the Corporation has distributed $8000 in scholarship funds.

The New Jersey wrestling community is welcome to participate in and support this worthwhile organization.
