CLASH OF TITANS

Frank Molinaro of Southern Regional went 37-1 last winter and went on to win the NJSIAA championship at 125 pounds. The junior is unbeaten this season in 17 bouts at 140.

Scott Winston of Jackson went 22-0 last winter as a freshman, but missed the postseason after suffering a broken wrist. The sophomore is 17-0 this season at 145.

On Sunday at 3 p.m. at Brick Memorial, one of them will suffer their first defeat as they battle at 145 pounds at the New Jersey Wrestling Coaches All-Star Invitational.

"This is why this All-Star meet originated, to get great matchups," Southern coach John Stout said. "It's great for the fans and each wrestler will have a shot to show what they are made of."

Molinaro, currently ranked No. 2 by The Star-Ledger at 140, has elected to move up a weight class to face Winston, No. 1 at 145.

"I'm really pumped up for it," Molinaro said. "I've been hearing all the hype about him lately, but all I need to do is trust my own stuff and go out there and wrestle. I have nothing to lose because I'm going
up into his class to take him on. All the pressure is on him."

Molinaro (85-3 career) said he went 1-2 against Winston in the eighth grade before beating him last summer.

"Every one of our matches has been close," Molinaro said.
