Davis helps lift Brick Memorial past TR East

For Brick Memorial's Nick Davis, the match against Toms River East's
Steve Striffolino was a chance to measure how much he has improved.
"He beat me twice last year," said Davis after Brick Memorial had won
the Class A South wrestling match, 48-12. "This time I got him."
Davis and Striffolino were tied 2-2 at the end of regulation in the
119-pound bout. In the second overtime period Striffolino escaped, but
Davis got a takedown for the eventual victory.
The Mustangs, rated No. 4 at the Shore, will be at division-leading
Jackson, rated No. 1, Saturday (3 p.m.) and Davis said that the team is
looking forward to the challenge.
"We have a lot of tough matches coming up," Davis said of the Mustangs,
who are now 7-2 on the season.
Karon Reed also had a big win for the Mustangs, who won 11 bouts.
CENTRAL 62, DONOVAN 12:
Nick Weaver picked up his 125th career victory with a pin against
Jarred Pollard in the first period of the Class B South battle.
MANCHESTER 57, LACEY 12:
Matt Heinis' victory against John Roth avenged a loss last season and
started the Hawks on a seven-bout streak in the Class B South match.
SOUTHERN 66, BRICK 3:
The Rams won the first 13 bouts, including a 3-2 victory by heavyweight
Mike Thomas, on the way to the Class A South victory.
TR NORTH 45, TR SOUTH 21:
The Mariners won 10 of 14 bouts,including a pin by freshman Matt
Franceschi, to take the Class A South match. |
