For Brick Memorial's Nick Davis, the match against Toms River East's Steve Striffolino was a chance to measure how much he has improved.

"He beat me twice last year," said Davis after Brick Memorial had won the Class A South wrestling match, 48-12. "This time I got him."

Davis and Striffolino were tied 2-2 at the end of regulation in the 119-pound bout. In the second overtime period Striffolino escaped, but Davis got a takedown for the eventual victory.

The Mustangs, rated No. 4 at the Shore, will be at division-leading Jackson, rated No. 1, Saturday (3 p.m.) and Davis said that the team is looking forward to the challenge.

"We have a lot of tough matches coming up," Davis said of the Mustangs, who are now 7-2 on the season.
