STREAK: Five straight pins help Colts Neck triumph over Monmouth

Williams, Robertson pace Long Branch

Green Wave (2-0, 2-0) to a 31-23 Shore Conference Class B North win
over Freehold.

Just needing to stay off his back in the final bout of the match, Long
Branch freshman Jon Robertson did more than that, taking a 5-2 decision
over Perry Reiss to lift the Green Wave (2-0, 2-0) to a 31-23 Shore
Conference Class B North win over Freehold.

Robertson escaped to start the second period and scored two takedowns
before the two minutes ended in the win. Heavyweight Darius Williams
helped the Long Branch cause, pinning Travis Postell with four seconds
left in the third period.

Wins by Justin Clarke and Chris Menkin put the Wave in good position,
up 10 points with two bouts to go.

COLTS NECK 47, MONMOUTH 32:

Senior Jeremy Gaines sealed a 2-0 start to the season for the Cougars
with a 10-9 win over Kyle Christensen at 125. The Cougars earned five
straight pins from 152 to 215 to take control of the Class B North
match.

FREEHOLD TWP. 37, MIDD. SOUTH 31:

Junior 140-pounder Dustin Craven sealed the Class A North victory for
the Patriots over the Eagles by recording a technical fall with two
bouts remaining.

NEPTUNE 46, HOLMDEL 34:

Don Gutzmore pinned Brian Friere at 145 to give the Scarlet Fliers
(1-1, 1-1) a 29-16 lead they never relinquished on their way to a win
over the Hornets (0-2, 0-1) in Class B North.

Holmdel senior Pat Murray picked up his 50th career win with a major
decision at 140.

KEYPORT 60, RUMSON-FH 21:

Senior heavyweight John Dorsi improved to 5-0 when he pinned Keith
Johnson at 5:12 with a half nelson to help the Red Raiders (2-0, 1-0)
roll to a win over the Bulldogs (0-1, 0-1) in Class B Central.

Senior Derek Maldonado (8-0) and freshman Tony Maldonado (2-0) also
remained unbeaten for Keyport.

MANASQUAN 33, MATAWAN 30:

A pin in 4:30 by Richie Grieb (9-1) at 152 clinched the victory for the
Warriors (3-0, 2-0) with three bouts remaining in their Class A Central
match with the Huskies (2-3, 0-2).

Dave Alsieux improved to 8-1 for Manasquan with a pin at 140.

MANALAPAN 42, MARLBORO 21:

Senior Tom Coughlin scored on a takedown with 10 seconds left in the
third period at 140 to defeat Kyle Lindenhower 9-7 in the final bout of
the match to put a stamp on a win by the Braves (5-0, 1-0) over the
Mustangs in Class A North.

Manalapan senior 112-pounder Charles Morea took a one-point lead into
the second period before scoring a takedown and holding on for a 6-4 win
over Marcos Rutty in another close bout.

CENTRAL 47, MANCHESTER 22:

Nick Tenpenny scored on an escape and a takedown in the third period to
pull away for a 7-3 win over Matt Heinis at 160, his second win over
Heinis this season after defeating him in the finals of the Hawk
Classic, to help send the Golden Eagles (2-0, 2-0) to a win over the
Hawks (1-2, 0-1) in Class B South.

Central's John Mackie edged Jon Moroz, 2-1, at 135 when Moroz was
whistled for stalling in the third period.
